The newly formed Jefferson City Regional Economic Partnership (JCREP) reached a significant milestone recently with the election of Board of Directors and Officers of the Board. A meeting was held with current investors of the organization to establish the Board of Directors and officially begin the search for an Executive Director for the Partnership.
“This is a big step in the process of getting this organization off the ground”, said Larry Kolb of Kolb Properties, who was elected Board Chairman of the Jefferson City Regional Economic Partnership. “We’ve been extremely pleased with the commitments we’ve received to this point from City of Jefferson, Cole County and our private investors and I’m excited to work with my fellow board members and the professionals we put in charge to help grow our community.”
The mission statement for JCREP is: “The mission of the partnership is to develop sustainable growth in the Jefferson City region from existing and new business. The partnership advocates for a “pro-business climate” that supports the creation of new jobs, encourages public/private investments, and forms the necessary partnerships to advance major initiatives.”
The following have been established as the partnership’s initial initiatives: Workforce Development Initiatives/Broadband Connectivity Expansion/Targeted Business Attraction and Marketing/Regional Alignment for Economic Development/Housing Availability and Affordability/Transportation Advancements.
Since the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors approved the separation of economic development activities to create a newly established public/private partnership in Spring of 2020, a volunteer group of community members has been working on budgets, establishing organization bylaws and structure, and securing initial funding partners.
“The City and the County have been involved from the beginning and securing their commitment to help fund this organization was the first step,” said Kolb. “We have a lot of positive things happening in our community and this partnership will allow us to keep that momentum going and be laser focused on continuing to win in economic development.”
During the meeting, the Board approved the contract with Next Move Group to lead the search for an Executive Director. Next Move Group, headquartered in St. Louis, recently completed the search for the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce President. JCREP hopes to have an Executive Director in place by the end of the summer.
Missy Bonnot, Director of Economic Development of the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce will transition to JCREP as Vice-President. Missy assumes the position with 29 years of experience in the economic development field.
